Kagami Biraki : First Day of Training

Kagami Briarki is a traditional Japanese way to open the year with the ceremony to wish for a prosperous year. Since we are moving to a new location and new dojo, this is the perfect opportunity to start the training and wish for a good year for our dojo.

The class will be held as per normal but unlike the classes before the class will be held for 1 hour 30 mins without break. There will be some demonstration at the end to finish the class in ceremonial style.

We have been very lucky to use the Zanshin dojo in Sneinton, run by Sensei Simon Oliver. We will be sharing the floor space with sensei Oliver on all adults classes. Please show the courtesy as you would when you are visiting other dojos.

Sensei Joe’s seminar with the Juniors

This was the first time sensei Joe Thambu ( our technical director ) has taken the class for the juniors. Nearly 40 juniors turned up from both Nottingham and Derby dojo all excited to see sensei Joe. Although everyone was very excited about the class, there seemed to have been a bit of tension in the air from the juniors as they seemed nervous…. As soon as the class started juniors never moved so quick!!! As they got into the training.

The juniors showed a great spirit and energy throughout the class as they It was a fantastic occassion and great atmosphere. Sensei Joe was very impressed with all the juniors and he is very excited to come back next year to teach everyone some more.

Thank you for all the juniors and the parents to come and support the event and we are looking forward to doing another one next year!

Junior Xmas Seminar and Grading

Brief: End of the year is upon us, and it is time to celebrate the great year we have had. All the juniors have been working really hard this year, and it is time for the juniors to show what they have learnt and show case it in front of everyone in the whole club! It’s showtime!!

There will also be a seminar to finish off the year in the high, and we will be doing some exciting training with weapons which we normally don’t use. We also get all of the juniors from both dojos together so it should be an exciting event!
