Good Morning Everybody,
As we enter the month of the first grading of the year, the test practice begins! From this week every Monday and Saturday class will act as test practice open to all students!

We also have a new Facebook page that we ask you all to please like, share and write a review if possible! And there is a seminar in 2 weeks time with one of the world’s best Yoshinkan instructors in Nottingham! All this and more below!

NEW FACEBOOK PAGE
In order to keep with the times and provide a platform for us all to share aikido related information, have a common means of communication, and promote our club and classes, we have created a brand new public Facebook page! If you haven’t already done so then we encourage you all to ‘like’ the page so you don’t miss out on any of the clubs exciting new content!

It would also be hugely appreciated by us if you could please write a small review about the club on this page as this helps more than you think to promote our club and help our family grow! Don’t forget to leave 5 stars 😉

ROBERT MUSTARD SHIHAN (8th Dan) SEMINAR
Robert Mustard Shihan from Canada is teaching a weekend seminar at the Eagle Dojo in Nottingham next month! Those of you familiar with the book ‘Angry White Pajamas’ will know how iconic Mustard Shihan is to Yoshinkan Aikido. He is a fantastic teacher and I personally promise that you won’t regret attending this seminar. Find all information below

  • WEDNESDAY JUNIOR CLASS WITH SENSEI ROWAN
The junior class on a Wednesday evening from 6:00pm – 7:00pm in the Sneinton Dojo is a great opportunity for juniors of ALL LEVELS to train in a larger space enabling the prospect of practicing more dynamic, difficult throws and improving your aikido experience. The space we have at this Dojo can be 4 times the size of that in the Dunkirk Dojo when all of the mats are utilized. Personally this is also an important class for me as I start to teach more of my own classes and hope to continue to grow as a teacher and role model for the students and your children.

This is also a good class for the juniors with hopes of moving on to the adult classes in the future as it is immediately followed by a beginners level adult class which would eventually be ideal for them to transition between the classes. It is already a possibility for some juniors to stay on the mats for the adult class if the instructors deem the student as ready.

    MARCH ADULT GRADING
This month we have our first grading of the new year. Last year we had 4 very successful grading’s as students consistently progressed through the belts and impressed on the mats. Lets hope we can continue in similar vain in 2019 starting with this first one! This is an extra special grading as it is our first ever grading open to our ‘cadets’ as they look to complete brand new syllabuses and mix in with the adults! Also it is the first opportunity for everyone who has completed beginners courses to try for their next belts! We encourage everyone to try to grade and not make a definitive decision until closer to the day. All you need to know here:

  • What? The first Shoshinkan grading of the year! An opportunity for you to progress to your next belt.
  • When? Thursday 26th March @ 7pm
  • Where? The Derby Dojo – Sunnyhill Community Centre, Coleridge St, Derby DE23 8AF
  • Who? You! Everyone should endeavour to push themselves and try for their next belts as we aim for a 2019 full of achievements!
  • How? Start thinking about Uke’s (for 7th kyu and above) and filling out grading forms. AND TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN!
*Grading venues alternate between Derby and Nottingham throughout the year
